Valentine's Day

Sup /b/ (oops, wrong board...)

Anyway, I was trying to plan something really special for Val's Day this year - I was going to take my GF to a nice restaurant in Madison and then book a room at a hotel in the area.

See, we never really have 'alone time' because there are usually people at the Garage and she lives with her parents. I thought she would enjoy a nice, private place to stay the night and we could just be by ourselves.

Well, she accidentally found my To-Do list and she mentioned to me that she thought that was a bad idea. She wasn't comfortable lying to her mom about where she was, nor would she feel comfortable in a hotel. (She's worried she might see someone she knows. Madison is 60 miles away from here. )

Anyway. Now I'm completely stumped. I bought a corny box of chocolates, but I can't think of a damn thing I can do as far as an EVENT! Help?
I traded my little brother for a new scooter.

Take her out to dinner, buy her flowers, then go make out in the car where there's a nice view, maybe?

Hehe, well the dinner part is already taken care of - there's a very nice italian restaurant in Madison that I'm fond of, and I'm still thinking of taking her there.

Problem is, most of my plans involved taking care of the near-unlimited funds I'll be receiving from FAFSA. I was approved for nearly $16,000 in grants and loans, but with my rent being $0/month at the Garage and my food expenses taken care of, most of that money will simply become disposable income.

(Now I know that most of these are loans, and I don't intend on spending frivolously, at least $5K is going straight into savings as a 'buffer' in case I need to make car repairs or other crap. But still, I can pay off all my debts and put away a nice savings with more than $8K left over. I'm probably going to take out $2K and consider that as "Playtime Money". Part of it will be getting me to AZ during spring break so I can hang out with you guys!)

Anyway, back to the point. I had planned on booking a hotel room because it was something I couldn't normally do, something special that wasn't reproducible. Gifts, dinner, and "alone time" are nice, but they're easily reproducible.

I dunno. I haven't got a damn clue.

(EDIT - I think about things way too much.)

Going down on her for a few days never hurts, either.

That goes without saying - it's my favorite part of the deed!

Well, V-day came and went. Nothing special really happened, which was a big disappointment - at least in my mind.

I had hoped to take her someplace nice to eat or at the very least get her a gift, but all I had was a box of chocolates I'd been saving since November.

Of course when I brought it up, she gave me the "I don't care about that I just want to spend time with you" thing, but I still don't like being broke. Having no money sucks, and it's not all that emasculating to be unable to pay for dinner.

Anyway, loans still haven't come through (bureaucracy is AWESOME) but when they do, I'm going to have a "makeup Valentine's day" or something like that.

Hmm, you are correct - I'd meant the opposite. Good eye!

Hey, times are hard. We have had to make concessions. Show her your burly manliness in other ways.

I played Bioshock 2 with my significant other all day. Bet you wish you would've tried something like that... :)

See, "bioshock" means sex, and that means that Once a Hero is implying that to celebrate Valentine's Day, she and her significant other had sex.

What? You already knew that?
