Ramen Recipes

I have been eating A LOT of ramen lately and have come up with almost 101 recipes.

Here's a simple one:

Egg Foo Ramen:

Crush your pack of ramen before putting into a SMALL omelet skillet.

Add the season pack to the dry ramen.

Add water until it JUST barely covers the crushed noodles.

Cook on small burner on HIGH until the water is gone. You will know because the sound goes from a boil to a "fry".

turn it one click above medium. Push your ramen to one side of the pan. Crack an egg into the empty side and stirr it around till it mostly cooks in that spot.

When it's almost cooked stirr it all together and finish off the "frying" until it's dry.

Remember, ramen is already cooked so the time is really inconsequential! More of a taste thing!

BAM!

Egg Foo Ramen!

Add just about ANYTHING before you cook the ramen and BAM! It's something NEW!

I've added just about EVERYTHING but of course I must have missed SOMETHING!

Anyone have any other ideas/creations for ramen?

ORDER UP!

Not ramen...but if you cook pasta separate from the sauce, check this one out:

Take yer leftover pasta and toss it in a frying pan... bit over medium heat. If you're using spaghetti (or any long pasta) it helps to chop it up with yer spatula. Stir occasionally and add your choice of spices. I like my "Fried Pasta" half crispy, but its really up to you how done you like it. From here you can add a whipped egg or two... or throw your pasta sauce in. Top it off with Parmesan (or whatever you like) and you got yourself delicious leftover crispy pasta.

Enjoy!

Let's all go to Spatula City!!

Check this out!
Rasmussen College has a list of Ramen recipes right on their website!!

College Suvival Guide Part I: 50 Amazing Ramen Noodle Recipes

Going to college requires a lot of your time, which doesn't allow you to cook your common four-course meal. Using the age-old college fallback, ramen noodles, you can cook yourself a tasty treat in a short amount of time without breaking the bank.

Preparing Ramen Noodles for a Recipe

Boil the noodles according to the directions on the package and drain. If raw noodles are called for, then just break the noodles into bite-sized pieces before opening the package. Fried ramen noodles add crunch and a unique flavor to a recipe. For a recipe calling for fried noodles, heat 1/3 cup of canola oil in a frying pan and break the noodles into small pieces. Add them to the hot oil, and stir constantly until they are nicely browned.

I like the sound of this:
For a light ramen salad, toss 4 cups shredded lettuce, 1 grated carrot, 4 green onions sliced and cup slivered almonds, with a package of uncooked ramen noodles. Pour over a dressing made of 2 tablespoons each of canola oil and honey, the seasoning packet (chicken or beef are recommended) and cup each rice vinegar and apple juice. Toss and serve.

Sometimes when I make ramen I eat the whole package of uncooked noodles while waiting for water to boil. Then I open up the flavor packet and pour it on my tongue. Then I drink the boiling water. ARRRRRR!!

I don't have any new recipes but that's because I think it's darn hard to beat perfection. Here are some things I do to make it MORE perfect:

  • Put the seasoning packet in the boiling water FIRST, along with a little olive oil and butter. This means that the noodles will soak up flavored water instead of just water - so your noodles will have flavor too! (Olive oil keeps them from sticking)
  • Don't use a fork on the nonstick pots and pans. I'll stab you.
  • Let them noodles sit for a good long time. There's a lifespan of ramen noodles, and you may find that letting the noodles continue on from Early Stiff Noodles to Medium Soaked Noodles will make them even yummier. Don't let them get to Old Soggy Noodles, though. Those are just nasty.

I've REALLY been "pushing the envelope" lately.

Whose game to try/offer some REALLY OUT THERE suggestions?

Peanut Butter Raman?

RoFu (Tofu Ramen)

What else would be good like an egg is good to it?

Hmm, I wonder how well a can of tuna or maybe some chicken would do.

What about stir frying the noodles? Cook 'em until they're soft, then fry them with some veggies!

^See the first posting:)

I almost exclusively fry my ramen these days.

I've added corn, peas, vegall, tomatoes (from my own garden), onion, can's of chicken but not tuna (yet)...

I've been contemplating a creamy beef by using milk and a little Oobleck (cornstarch) instead of water.

The key is simplicity , if you take more than five min to make it then your missing the point .
Chicken bacon ramen
Start out just like mal said the difference is put a little ranch in it in place of some of the water .
Along with a can of chicken and a couple of strips of micro bacon .
Cook it to the texture you desire
Serve with a little shredded cheese .

Fried Beef Cream Style With Ham

Postby Maliaki on Wed Oct 07, 2009 6:09 pm

Fried Beef Cream Style With Ham

This ones pretty good. I'd make it with Roast Beef but food stamps won't buy deli counter meats and there's nothing bigger then a 6oz package in the pre-packaged meats. But you can buy a LARGE package of ham for cheap :)

First you fry your ramen cream style. I don't htink it's been discussed yet, so here it goes.

1.Break your ramen up. I guess you don't have to, it get's harder to manage.
B.In a small "omelet" skillet pour ramen, seasoning, pulled apart Ham slices and MILK instead of water to where it JUST COVERS the ramen.
3.Cook this on MEDIUM instead of traditional "HIGH" like standard frying. The milk will boil over VERY FAST. You gotta cook it lower and stir often. Creamy ramen burns easier, so you don't cook it quite as dry as the regular fried ramen. It doesn't actually "fry" like water based ramen and you end up with a stroganoff type of a cream sauce. I figure it's GOTTA be better for you then the water version :).
D.Mix in any type of veggies you have laying around for variation.

NEXT!! "Creamy Chicken Mushroom"!!

Add another ingredient to the list! We've tried water and milk to cook our ramen in, now I've begun using Vegetable JUICE!

Beef Ramen
V8 (although I used "Great Value" because like most ramen eaters, I'm BROKE!)
3 Sliced Roast Beef, medium sliced, shredded
2 LARGE thick sliced mushrooms
1 Egg

Mix everything but the egg into a small skillet and cook it "fry" style. It won't quite get to the dry fry like with water though. When it's close to that, pull the ramen aside and add the egg, scramble it to small curds and mix it in, BAM! A tomato based mushroom beef ramen! Add a few veggies and you've got Veggie Beef Stew!

Ok, we've got Water, Milk and Veggie Juice. What other liquids can we use? (no, I haven't tried Beer YET!!)

ohh i think it'd be pretty good to add 1/4 package of that sausage that comes in those over-sized plastic blunt rolls (that's what it looks like to me) with your reggmen (see what i did there? i put egg and ramen together.. crap joke i know) and then you've got ramen for breakfast... at least for those who don't eat ramen for breakfast

and then you said something really weird? i used to strain it after making it conventionally (well i never added the seasoning) and add chocolate and a lil milk and a little bit of marshmallow fluff... i didn't think it was that bad

and last my little sister makes it the microwave way and then adds the seasoning + Tabasco sauce + garlic salt I've never tried it but she seems to like it

Chop up half a large white onion
Boil the onion in a pot with a little water and the ramen packet
Once the onions are cooked, add ramen noodles
While ramen is cooking, add spoonful of butter

End result:
The ramen doesn't just absorb water, it absorbs the onion juices as well as its' own flavoring packet and the butter!
This causes more flavorful noodles as well as a tasty vegetable addition to ramen

(Bonus points if you boil the ramen in JUST enough water so that when you're done there is no broth!)
